From their final project at Art School, where they formed, to the making of their first album, MARGO realized their passion was making music. It became an absolute expressive necessity.

Since then, MARGO has developed poetic melodic electronic music, where loops and sounds are created from instruments and machines. The band could be described as a convergence between 80's influences (The Cure, Joy Division, Taxi Girl) and a more intimate electronica scene incorporating warm and delicate electronic organic glitchy-pop sounds (Schneider TM, Barbara Morgenstern) while maintaining a French identity (Francoise Hardy, Jane Birkin).

From their academic background, they kept the idea to link music with video/fashion/art installation/architecture... MARGO is not only a musical project, but a much wider idea that shows its ambitions onstage. The visual meets the musical to give birth to a plastic and sonic coherence. Melanie, the singer, also a talented fashion designer, likes to design special clothes for Margo's live performances. Margo lives in Nantes on the French Atlantic coast.

Furtives Furies:

Margo's second album combines an exciting and fresh m諡nge of sweet melodic electronic music with more direct fun-loving indietronic sounds & beats. It is like attending a romantic modern electronic ballroom function where dancey-groovy- electro tracks are there to get you on the dance floor for a fun time. But soon enough, the soothing sweet innocent voice of Melanie, who alternates singing in French and English - is back to transport you into a well-deserved warm dreamy world. Margo's sound hints at melancholy.

Pay attention to the first 10 seconds of the album: the purring solo of Margo's neighbor's enthralling cat is here to charm you into the groovy first few tracks, including the single, Furies.

On Furtives Furies, the tracks Favorite and Les Nuages would be perfect soundtracks to la douceur de vivre, a very French way of expressing a pleasant and serene atmosphere of intimacy.

1 2 3 is probably the French response to Number 1 by the German band Ms. John Soda, which isn't surprising given Margo's taste for music on the Morr label (i.e. The Notwist).

Members of Margo:

Jean-Fran殩s Le Coq: electronics, guitars JF is an art teacher.
Melanie Massons: keyboards, vocals

Mel is a fashion designer. JF and Mel are both graduates of the School of Fine Arts in Angers, France. JF majored in sounds & video installations while Melanie specialized in clothes-sculpture and painting. Both have an interest in graphic design and photography. Lovers in life, they met on campus while hanging out with a group of people who were passing around a walkman that played The Cure. They then started to listen to German electronic music. Mel gets her inspiration from Jane Birkin, Francoise Hardy, Lali Puna, Blonde Redhead and Japanese literature. JF was influenced by computer games, Autechre, Joy Division and Sonic Youth. Margo is the name of a cat.
